Smartscope 5 mp 200x4/5/2023 > Then you haven’t been paying attention. It’s just an argument of convenience, not one of actual beneficial gameplay mechanics. I think if Killstreaks and Loadouts were still in Halo 5 these same people would still be arguing that Halo would fail without them. > I’m not sure they get where you are coming from. > (keep in mind you’ve only played tiny a BETA) > So if people were wrong about Halo needing to “modernise” with those mechanics is it not possible that they are also wrong that halo needs to “modernise” with mechanics like mantling, sprint and ADS? > We’re back to the original question I asked. The way they reworked them are much, much better. > Sprint and thruster in H5 are different than they were in H4. I’m glad they dropped killstreaks, ord drops, tactical packages, AA’s, armor perks, and much more that I am forgetting. > So you think the specific “modern” mechanics they implemented in H4 were bad but that the new “modern” mechanics they replaced them with are not? They have all been fun to play for their own reasons, which is all that matters to me. I have enjoyed all Halo titles equally because every installment (before someone asks: yes, even Halo 4) has brought something worthwhile to the table and served to enrich the series in some way. *For the record, I don’t think either classic or modern Halo is “more fun” than the other. But most people on this forum can’t seem to differentiate between “subjective” and “objective” reasoning. It’s fine to have a debate about which is more fun*, as long as it stays as a subjective debate. Once people stop confusing their personal preferences for facts, we’ll all be in a better place. The fact is, you have no objective reasoning for why sprint is bad for Halo, just like how I have no objective reasoning for why sprint is good (or indifferent) for Halo. This whole debate topic is entirely subjective, which is why debating it is a fruitless endeavor. Halo used to be a run AND gun game and it is now a run OR gun game. That being flowing combat that combines with movement. I totally 100% believe that sprint alone sacrifices what was unique about Halo. > Secondly a statement like " Adding these abilities is a way to give the multiplayer a fresh new feel, without sacrificing what’s really important" is based on subjective feelings. I’ve bashed COD for reusing assets and not even bothering to change the HUD between games lol. I’ve bashed COD for reusing an engine that was already dated when the 360 launched. First off i’ve never bashed COD for not changing it’s core gameplay.
